One Little Monkey...

It was just another ordinary work and school day. I walked out to the bus stop and Alyssa walks off the bus and looks like this:

Alyssa and her friend were playing on the monkey bars and she fell off and hit her forehead, eye, and arm. She was okay by the time I saw her, but this happened at lunch time recess in the middle of the day. I had no idea it even happened. She went to the school nurse and she didn't call or send a note home to me. I felt terrible that she was crying and hurt and I wasn't there to help her.
I thought about it later that night how this will probably be the first of many times she will be hurt and I am not able to prevent it. Scary thought.

Cari fell off the monkey bars in elementary many, many times! One time I believe it knocked her out and her teacher came and got me from my class to help calm her down! Yikes! Alyssa is one tuff cookie!!!

I think I would call the school to find out what their protocol is. Do they only call when there's blood or what? I mean, just so you know. It bugs me that they didn't call you, but I'll bet they have some kind of protocol--it would just be nice for you as the mama to know. I'm so sorry...that's such an awful feeling. I remember it well. :(

Owwwie! Poor baby. Our school send home an incident report from the nurse describing what happened and treatment if it's something minor. Is that minor, though? Yikes.

@Jamie--that story about Cari cracks me up. I can't imagine her being such a monkey! She blames Hudson's business on Jake, but...you know what I mean? :0)
